I came for Bowen Fascial Release Technique treatment following a recommendation from a friend. I was suffering from severe pain in my lower back, which was aggravated whenever I leant forward for any task, even bending slightly. This had been a pain I had lived with for several years that was progressively getting worse. The pain extended from my lower back down through my legs causing pins and needles throughout the leg.

The pain was so bad that it stopped me from working, cooking, or simply being able to pick things off the floor or a table.

Each time I moved in a way that caused the pain, the level, and duration of it would last for two hours only to be reduced after 2 hours by the aid of painkillers. Even then the pain never went away; it merely reduced to a manageable level. This level of manageable pain was with me 24 hours a day.

I had a diagnosis from the hospital of a large L4/5 disc protrusion compressing the nerves.

Over a course of three treatments, the back pain was addressed by working on the lower and upper back, along with work on the hamstring and knee to address the pins and needles.

After three weeks, I had no pain in my lower back, could work, bend, cook, and be myself again. The pins and needles in my leg had also gone.

I was delighted to be free from pain after so many years and not to be restricted in my activities and to not rely on painkillers anymore.

I have been suffering with severe pains in my left foot, right leg, and lower back especially around the base of the spine with swelling on occasions and I have been taking painkillers to manage the pain for years.

Over the course of the treatment, the pain in my back reduced until I could cope without painkillers. And I can now also wear heels again and walk for more than 10 minutes without pain. I feel that I have my independence back.

MC January 2016

I ruptured my achilles tendon first in 2011 and then again in 2013. Since then I have had six cortisone injections and specially customised support boots to protect my achilles. I take eight ibuprofen painkillers daily and have to wear support splints at night.

A good friend recommended Peter, flowing her positive experience and results. I was in a great deal of pain everyday in my achilles and hips. I could not walk very far or sleep.

Peter concentrated on my hamstrings and pelvis, and the pain although still there has reduced in my hip. The work on my hamstrings has also improved the pain in my achilles to a manageable level, whereby I can sleep and walk now, and my intake of painkillers has ceased.

JW February 2016

Whilst I was cleaning the gutters of my house at the top of the ladder, my right foot got tangled in my trousers, and in my panic I forced the leg downwards. Being a former paramedic I knew exactly what had happened when I felt the numbness and then pain. I had dislocated my knee cap. Knowing that I had to get down, I put the knee cap back into place so I could get down. I couldn’t walk without the support of a walking stick and felt as though the knee would collapse, and indeed it often did around five times a day. This continued for several days before I found Peter.

After the first session my knee felt less delicate and stronger, less likely to collapse. Since that first session it did not give way, and I could stand on it more and with more confidence. Over the next week, the knee got stronger. I saw Peter twice more and each time I felt more confidence in my knee. I was so pleased to have found such an understanding and good therapist, I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I have suffered from IBS for the last 20 years, and it has been getting worse as I get older. In order to reduce the effects I have learnt to avoid certain food groups, as my intolerance to diary products seems to be a trigger. I also suffer from cluster headaches and optical migraines. These are debilitating and make me unable to function for up to 48 hours.

Having been through the usual GP route numerous times, without success, so having nothing to lose I decided to try an alternative therapy. I had heard of the Bowen Technique several years ago, so I googled for therapists in my area and found Peter.

His patient approach and thoroughness in finding out about my conditions and how they affected me, and more importantly what they prevented me from doing gave me great confidence.

Over the course of the treatments, my cluster headaches decreased in severity, I had no optical migraine, and have not had one in the four months since my treatments. More impressively, is the reduction in the number, frequency, and severity of IBS episodes. I would not hesitate in using Bowen Technique for these or any condition.

CK January 2016

I fell off a kitchen stool about eight weeks ago, and hurt my upper back. I visited my GP, but there was no diagnosis apart from it hurt, and to take ibuprofen which I did. After 4 weeks of the pain getting worse, I wanted the pain to stop so I was willing to try anything. Anything in this case was Bowen Fascial Release Technique.

After Bowen treatment from Peter, my back and neck have improved greatly, but what has surprised me most is the way my asthma has responded to the treatments. My need for the inhaler is reduced and I am able to walk faster than before without the need for the inhaler! It shows that Bowen Fascial Release Technique does benefit ‘the whole person, not just the symptoms’!
