We see them everywhere, supermarkets, corner shops, vending machines, the list goes on.
They help us get through the day, exercise and recover, replacing nutrients and electrolytes lost during exercise. Well that is what we are told. In the USA, the American College of Sports Medicine have sounded a warning about energy drinks and have issued a series of recommendations and called for more research. A key element is that there is insufficient data available at present to comment of the side effects, if any, of these drinks.
From an exercising perspective they have suggested not to use energy drinks before, during or after strenuous exercise.
